A moment of quiet beauty in the midst of a twin delivery by Dr. David Seil Kim.
Baby B was delivered en caul — still fully enclosed within the amniotic sac, the fluid-filled membrane that protects and cushions a baby throughout pregnancy. In this rare phenomenon, the sac remains completely intact during birth, allowing the baby to enter the world untouched for just a few seconds longer.
En caul births are estimated to occur in fewer than 1 in 80,000 deliveries and are even more uncommon in twin births.
Rare, delicate, extraordinary.
These are the moments that remind us: birth is not just clinical — it’s deeply human.
